Ask these 6 questions to figure out your communications plan, the right way

After a few client consultations last week, it dawned on me how important it is to identify what you want to achieve before you get started. This may seem obvious but it can be very easy to get lost in all the nice-to-haves that the PR world offers. However, if you want to make sure you get the value you need, being clear on your ultimate goal is of vital importance.

It can be a bit overwhelming to try and figure out where to start with the communications plan for your organisation. That’s because the scope is vast, your range of tactics is virtually endless, and there is of course a lot of room for error.

Ask these questions to start thinking more clearly about what you want to achieve in the end:

1) What do we want people to know about us?
2) Which groups of people do we want to know about us?
3) What platforms do they consume information on?
4) What format of content do they prefer?
5) What can we say on these platforms, and in this format that will resonate with them?
6) How can we engage and draw them into a conversation with us?

Answering these questions should set you on the path to plotting your PR and communications plans and implements.

As always, if you need some more support in driving your PR agenda, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Happy PR
