Power utility Eskom has indicated that it will apply for a near 40% increase in electricity tariffs and municipal electricity tariffs could increase costs for consumers further.
Cape Town – Social housing activists in Cape Town have expressed concern over the country’s new digital nomad visa, saying it will further increase rental and property prices and drive many locals – especially the poor – away from jobs and economic opportunities in the CBD.
The tariff hike, which could be implemented as early as April 2025, spells disaster for consumers when the economy is failing millions of people, concerned parties added.
